Kodak Portra is a professional color negative film made by Kodak in Rochester, New York. Available in ISO 160 and 400, it is known for its warm midtones, fine grain, and wide exposure latitude — overexpose by two stops and the image still holds. Colors lean warm without turning orange, and skin tones render naturally without correction. Portra 400 is the most-used stock in this portfolio because it handles the widest range of Texas light, from harsh midday sun to the golden hour glow that settles over parking lots and overgrown fields. Most of the outdoors and observations photographs here were shot on Portra. It is a forgiving film that rewards patience — exactly the kind of stock suited to wandering with no particular destination, waiting for ordinary light to land on ordinary things.
